I don’t approve,” Sherlock said, drawing himself up to his maximum height and directing a stern look at his older brother. “I’ve considered it carefully and it makes no sense for you to waste your time with a gaggle of idiots rather than spending it with me. My company is far more edifying than theirs could ever be.” Sherlock brushed a curl from his forehead without losing a whit of his outrage or his dignity.

Mycroft studied the slim, pale child in front of him and remembered gathering a new bundle of life in his arms and thinking that it would always be his, his brother, his companion, his responsibility.
