Title: Penumbra (Series Two, Last Chapter: Leave-taking)
Author: [personal profile] saki101
Fandom: Sherlock BBC
Characters/Pairings: (this chapter) John Watson/Sherlock Holmes, Bill Wiggins, James Moriarty, Mummy Holmes, Mr Holmes, Mycroft Holmes
Rating: R (for the series)
Summary: A gothic AU of the Sherlock universe inspired by the universe of Dark Shadows (the television series) in which John grew up hearing stories about Holmeswood Manor. They didn't keep him from interviewing for a post as a resident physician at the Manor when he came back from Afghanistan because there was no way he could afford to live in London on an army pension and he was sure there could not possibly be any truth to the tales. A year on he knows that the stories didn't prepare him for the half of it.
Warnings: canon-compliant character suicide, magic involving blood
Word Count: ~7.7K (for this chapter), 41K (for second series)
Disclaimer: Neither Sherlock nor Dark Shadows is mine and no money is being made.
A/N: A sequel to series one of Penumbra, set a little more than a year later.

Summary: John has been behaving strangely since Sherlock’s return. The tension is growing, and as it turns out, Mary is not the only one to have secrets. John has got something to hide, too. He wasn’t supposed to be like that!
Note: Once you rule out the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable… is this. As Anderson would say, stranger things happened. :)

A/N: A fusion of Sherlock: The Abominable Bride and Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories crossed over with The Fall of the House of Usher, written for the June 2016 Holmestice Exchange..
Summary: A new client arrives at Baker Street hoping that Sherlock Holmes can shed light on the mysterious deaths of the Ushers and the destruction of their home.

Excerpt: The carriage door opened.

It would not have surprised me to see a patent leather slipper and a stockinged shin appear atop the step. Instead, a black-booted and trousered leg was our first glimpse of our visitor. The rest of his person emerged in a graceful motion, clothed in contemporary fashion, his colours ebon. He paused a moment on the pavement, then straightened his waistcoat and strode to our door.

Excerpt: “Nothing ever happens to me,” John said, meeting his therapist’s detached gaze. He could look someone straight in the eye and not give away a thing. The skill had been as valuable in his career as when he played poker. Ella glanced down to scratch at her notebook. She had perfected the same technique.

John looked beyond her. Outside the firmly closed windows, bare tree branches scratched at the pale grey page of the sky.

"Anymore," he added silently.

(Or: first meeting in a very different place and time.)
A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] what_alchemy whose generous prompts for the December 2014 Holmestice Exchange included "AUs with a unique twist, magical or otherwise" which lit a strange, blue spark in my head!

Title: Wasted
Author: tardisjournal
Summary:
"Okay...” John agrees, as noncommittal as ever. Sherlock can tell by his tone that John is humouring him; saying one thing when he means another, just like he always does. Suddenly, Sherlock has had enough. They are barely outside when Sherlock stops so abruptly that John nearly runs into him. Sherlock rounds on John and glares down at him.

“Okay? No, it's not 'okay', John. It is very much not okay.”
Characters/Pairings: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson; Sherlock & John, Sherlock/John
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Slash
Word count: ~4,800
Spoilers: Spoilers: S3.02--"The Sign of Three", S3.03--"His Last Vow"
A/Ns: Written for the watsons_woes prompt "beware the fury of a patient man". John Watson, of course, is an excellent candidate to be the "patient man" here. Dealing with Sherlock would try the patience of a saint, and when John unleashes his temper it must be an awesome thing to behold. However, because I like to make things more difficult than they have to be challenge myself, I got to thinking what would happen if the "man" in the story were Sherlock. But how could that possibly work? Sherlock is never patient.

Or is he?

There may, in fact, be one thing that he's been extremely patient about waiting for. Until now.

Word Count: ~ 8,200

Title: Surveillance (Chapter 2 of Seat Assignment: Open)

Characters/Pairings: Gregory Lestrade/Mycroft Holmes
Rating: R-ish
Genre: Slash, romance, AU
Word Count: ~1.5K
Disclaimer: Sherlock is not mine and no money is being made.
Summary: Starlight. Conversation. Surveillance tapes.
A/N: Not Series 3 compliant. A continuation of the fic written for Let's Write Sherlock Challenge 13-Vacation Getaway. Although these two chapters may be read alone, they may also be read as part of a Mystrade set of stories which, more or less, began with an earlier holiday in We Are Sorry For Any Inconvenience.

Excerpt: The room at the top of the stairs was dominated by a skylight, a huge oval of star-scattered heavens. By the faint light from the landing, Greg saw a few outlines of furniture and more sky out a series of arched windows making up one wall. It didn’t seem very secure, not at all suited to Mycroft. There was a click and the light disappeared, the stars coming into sharper focus.

Although the story may be read alone, the theme of the challenge prompted me to write another story in the Mystrade series which, more or less, began with an earlier holiday in We Are Sorry For Any Inconvenience.

Excerpt: Nine days of leisure stretched before Greg. He hadn’t a reservation or a plan for a single hour of it. He’d received a few winks and nudges when he’d said he hadn’t booked anything. A week in bed with a like-minded partner would have been an excellent way to spend the time, but he didn’t have that lined up either. He pushed a certain thought away as he slipped between the tourists and commuters and continued east along the Embankment.
