Summary: There is a reason that the Holmes brothers aren’t close, but it is not a reason most people would expect: it’s a woman. A specific woman. And even as years have gone by and circumstances have changed and realizations have been made, the players in this family drama still keep their thoughts to themselves until they absolutely can’t any longer.
Authors Notes: So I was asked to write a story where the cause of the rift between Sherlock and Mycroft was that, at one point, Sherlock had an open infatuation with Anthea prior to realizing he was asexual. I decided to write the first three parts in first person from a different character’s POV (this part is Mycroft’s; Sherlock will be next, then Anthea), and then the fourth part will be the resolution. This is set vaguely around the end of series 3, after Sherlock has shot Magnussen but before the plane scene, to give you an idea of the timeline.
